Mumbai police seizes 980 kgs of contraband drugs

MUMBAI: In a major haul of drugs, City Police has seized 980 kg of contraband worth Rs 91.38-lakh allegedly transported here from Jammu and Kashmir and Orissa and arrested 19 drug peddlers, including three Nigerians.
The seizure by the Anti Narcotics Cell (ANC) of Mumbai police, in five separate cases, includes 900 kg Ganja, 79.50 kg Charas and 30 grams Cocaine, police said. 

Acting on a tip off, on Tuesday police laid a trap at suburban Ghatkopar and intercepted a tempo, which was later found to have carried 900 kg Ganja packed in sacks, said Deputy Police Commissioner (ANC) Sunil Paraskar.
Five persons, hailing from Andhra Pradesh have been arrested, Paraskar said adding the contraband worth Rs 27,00,000 was brought from Orissa to the city to hand it over to a buyer here.
