Deputy Chief Minister Chhagan Bhujbal took on Chief Minister Ashok Chavan today over delays in government clearance for crucial infrastructure projects, his criticism and the Chief Minister’s reply setting up an NCP-Congress verbal duel at the inauguration of the additional carriageway of the Bandra-Worli Sea Link.
The carriageway has been delayed by several months; the sea link itself had been opened years behind schedule.
“Decisions on projects should be taken quickly... files should be cleared, whatever decision it is, either yes or no, should be taken in quick time so projects are completed on time. Slow decisions lead to delays,” Bhujbal said.
The Centre is looking at an investment of $5 billion in infrastructure projects in the country by 2018, Bhujbal said, and “faster clearance” will be needed for the state’s projects.
