Check Royalty nightclub complaint, RR Patil tells officers

Mumbai: Home minister RR Patil on Tuesday directed deputy commissioner of police, social service branch, to look into the complaint filed by a resident of Bandra (West) against a nightclub, The Royalty. The club on the Waterfield Road, which earlier housed the famous pub, Poison, was renamed by actor Shilpa Shetty’s husband Raj Kundra and Prashant Gunjalkar.

In his response to an email sent by Anandini Thakoor, a member of H (West) Citizens’ Trust, Patil said he was looking into the matter and had asked the deputy commissioner of police to take action.
Thakoor said in her email: “There was this pub, Poison operating on Waterfield Road. Its fire escape was on 27th Road, which was regularly used by guests of the club. It created so much nuisance that residents complained, and the pub shifted to Atria Mall.
Presently, a new restrobar, Royalty, has come in its place. It has a new partner in Shilpa Shetty and her husband, Raj Kundra, but co-owner Prashant Gunjalkar would be running the show. Gunjalkar, unfortunately, was the in-charge of Poison.”
