MUMBAI: The state government on Saturday said their was enough water stock to last till June 15. Minister of state for urban development, Bhaskar Jadhav, announced this on Saturday on a calling attention notice by Congress’ Jaiprakash Chhajed.
The minister said the BMC and the irrigation department were implementing the Middle Vaitarna and Pinjar dam projects, which would increase the water supply by 865 mld. Besides, the work of changing old pipelines would be completed by 2012. He added that water resources minister Ajit Pawar had already provided additional 199 MLD water for Mumbai from Bhatsa and Upper Vaitarna dams.
