3,000 Mulund residents sign up for a change

It has taken three accidents in two months, including one which claimed the life of a 60-year-old, to galvanise 3,000 families in Mulund's MHADA and PMGP colonies into taking part in a signature campaign. The sole aim of this campaign is to get civic authorities recommence the construction of a foot overbridge (FOB) to connect the two sides of the Eastern Express Highway. Work at the site was stalled after some residents had opposed it.

Young Sachin Utekar explained that over a year ago an FOB was sanctioned and work was started. “However, some people residing in the building near the upcoming FOB opposed it on the grounds that it would disturb their privacy and managed to get the project stalled,” said Utekar. In fact, one can still see remnants of pillars that were constructed for the FOB.
It is unfair that people are being run over by speeding vehicles just because a few fear they will lose their privacy - Kisan Kap, a resident

Arvind Dalvi, a resident of PMGP colony complained, “In the last few months three people have been badly hurt while crossing the road.
