Residents from Bandra to Dahisar will face another 35 per cent water cut in a day or two, as the Tansa pipeline ruptured on Wednesday, within an hour of being repaired.
The Tansa (east) main water pipeline which has a diameter of 1,800 mm (72 inches) had burst on Monday at 5.40 pm near Vai village. It was immediately isolated by closing the valve to avoid water wastage. It took two days for engineers and labourers to repair it. The work was completed by 11 am and water supply was restored at 4 pm.
The Water Department declared that the pipeline was successfully repaired and the Public Relations Department of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) even sent messages to the media informing that the additional 20 per cent water cut would be withdrawn, and normal water supply restored from Thursday.
