Barc staff falls to his death trying to save bird

Mumbai: Eagerness to help a bird in distress cost a Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (Barc) staff his life on Tuesday. Sadanand Shelar died after falling from the third storey of his building. Shelar worked as a tradesman with the CDMA-D wing of Barc and resided in Netravati building at Barc Colony, Trombay.

According to police, on Tuesday afternoon, Shelar had gone to water his plants kept on a slab e xtension outside his flat. While watering the plants, he spotted the pigeon struggling to free its legs entangled in a tuft of hair.
A senior police officer said, “A person who was standing downstairs saw Shelar inching forward on the slab, trying to help the pigeon. But, the pigeon suddenly flapped its wings causing Shelar to lose his balance and fall.”
