BMC announces 100% water cut on world water day

Mumbai: On World Water Day on Monday, the BMC has announced 100% water cut in some western suburbs. The consumers from Goregaon to Dahisar will not receive water on March 25 as the BMC’s hydraulic department will carry out repair works on the Tansa main and the Malad tunnel.
Some small leaks on the Tansa main at Bhiwandi and the ruptured Malad tunnel will be attended to by the engineers. To carry out the work, the BMC has to stop supply of water to these suburbs.
“There is no other way to carry out the repair works than imposing a water cut,” said Vinay Deshpande, chief hydraulic engineer. “We will try to avoid inconveniencing the citizens and work at both places simultaneously. It will take 24 hours to complete the work. The water cut will be for 24 hours from Thursday 11am to Friday 11am.”
