Two days after the vicious attack on a 17-year-old boy in Thane, it has emerged that CCTV cameras on either side of the foot overbridge - where the boy was murdered - recorded the ghastly incident. However, even though the attack lasted a good 15 minutes, the Railway police failed to rescue him.
The incident occurred at 3 am on Monday when Sunil Kurmi, a Dahisar resident, was returning from Haji Malang Dargah with six friends. When they reached Thane station, the last train had left, and they began looking for autorickshaws to get home.
Senior PI Rajendra Kathawate of Thane GRP said the group spoke to rickshaw driver Prashant Jagdale, who quoted an exorbitant amount. “They refused to take Jagdale’s richshaw and walked ahead to negotiate with other drivers, which irked Jagdale,” said Kathawate.
