Mumbai GT Hospital outsources key facility to private centre

Mumbai: The state-run GT Hospital has outsourced its brand-new imaging centre consisting of MRI and CT scan facilities to Spectrum Healthcare, a private set-up in South Mumbai.

Both the machines were donated to the hospital by ONGC. While the state-of-the-art MRI machine worth Rs6.74 crore was inaugurated on Monday, the CT scan machine costing over Rs6 crore will be installed within a month.
The state authorities have maintained that the new set-up will prove beneficial for the patients who seek treatment at subsidised rates in the public hospital. “GT hospital has got the MRI facility for the first time. In a day, we refer about 12 to 13 patients for MRI.
They will now be sent to the imaging centre,” said Dr AP Chaudhari, medical superintendent, GT.
