Woman, kids killed on railway tracks

NAVI MUMBAI: A 24-year-old woman and two of her daughters were killed while trying to cross the railway tracks near Belapur station on Sunday evening. Her third daughter, though, survived, but with serious injuries.

The mishap occurred at 7.45 pm when Seema Yogesh Mishra, a resident of Belapur village, was crossing the tracks along with her three daughters — Ritika (6), Beauty (4) and Unnati (1). A local train hit the woman and her children who were trying to cross over to the Income Tax Colony on the other side of the tracks, reportedly to visit a temple there. “Seema and her eldest daughter Ritika were killed on the spot, while the youngest daughter, Unnati, succumbed to her injuries at MGM hospital in Belapur. Meanwhile, Beauty is under critical care at KEM hospital in Mumbai,” said a Panvel railway police official, Sunil S Lonkar.
