Power cuts force SSC students to burn the midnight oil

SSC students in Airoli, Navi Mumbai, had a tough time preparing for their exams scheduled for Friday, due to a power cut on Thursday evening. Most had to study with the use of candles and lanterns.

Though the local corporator complained to the Maharashtra State Electricity Board (MSEB), there was no electricity on Friday evening too in some areas.

Vishal Chowdhary, a student of  Shriram Vidyalaya at Airoli said, “It was very difficult to revise by the candlelight and after a while, I developed a severe headache. There was no electricity from 7 pm on Thursday and power was restored only after 3 am on Friday.”

Many students complained that they could not study due to the power cut. A student said, “After appearing for my Marathi exam on Thursday, I had lunch and slept. I decided to start revising at 6.30 pm for the English paper the next day. But I could not complete  revision due to the power cut.”
