Cops follow railway coupon clue, catch three killers in Mumbai

Mumbai: It was a well-scripted murder. But the assailants dropped a vital clue: a railway coupon book, which eventually resulted in their arrest.

Nearly a month ago, the Malwani police found the decomposed unidentified body of a man. The police found a few railway coupons on him. Picking up clues, the police cracked the murder case and arrested three people, including a contract killer who executed the murder.
Ramrao Pawar, addl commissioner of police (north region), said that on February 2, a decomposed body was found near Aadwa Patta in Malwani. The police registered a case of murder, as there were many slash marks all over the body, and the throat had been slit. When the police found out that the coupons were issued from Mira Road station, they deduced that the deceased must have been a resident of Mira Road.
The police found that on January 24, a missing person complaint was registered with the Mira Road police about one Mohammed Shaikh alias Sonu whose description matched with that of the deceased. Tasleem, the wife of the deceased, identified her husband.
