Actor Preity Zinta says she was made to wait five hours at the Khar police station but is still struggling to lodge an FIR. She has been trying for 10 days, she complained on Twitter.
Her posts prompted a denial from the government, with Minister of State for Home Ramesh Bagwe stressing that the police did register the complaint and she was not made to wait unnecessarily.
Zinta says the FIR involves theft and fraud; the police say it involves a land dispute and, therefore, technically a civil dispute.
On Tuesday, Zinta had tweeted: “Spent 5 hours at the Khar police station! Phew! Must say the cops were great. Offered me tea, more tea and more tea! The fight for justice has begun!” She added another tweet: “Trying to lodge an FIR for the past 10 days! I guess I have to follow the system, so be it!”
In another tweet, she said: “Trying to fight for justice as a normal citizen and not as a star! As a star all I have to do is a press conference and spill d beans. It is time to test the system and see where we stand as normal law abiding citizens! I have a feeling this battle will turn into a war! God help me :-)”
