Relatives skip Pravin Mahajan's final farewell

Mumbai: A day after he passed away of multiple organ failure at Jupiter Hospital in Thane, Pravin Mahajan was cremated at the Muktidham crematorium at Jawahar Baug, Thane, on Thursday morning. Pravin’s body was brought directly from JJ Hospital where it was sent for post mortem on Wednesday night.

Pravin’s elder brother, Prakash Mahajan, was present at the crematorium and grieved at the loss of his brothers. “One of my brothers (Pramod Mahajan) was killed, while the other is dead. Losing both my brothers is a huge mental and emotional loss for me,” said Prakash. “I was close to both Pramod and Pravin. In fact Pravin being my younger brother, he had grown up in my arms and unfortunately today I had to attend his funeral.”
Pravin is survived by wife Sarangi, daughter Vrushali and son Kapil, who lit his funeral pyre. Except for Prakash, no other member of the Mahajan or Munde (Gopinath Munde is the Pravin’s brother-in-law) families attended Pravin’s last rites. The only politician in sight was Maharashtra Navnirman Sena’s Ram Kadam.
