Mumbai: Police went on a wild goose chase in the western suburbs on Wednesday night after an inebriated model Khushi Singh spun an elaborate kidnap yarn. Five hours later, police traced Singh to Malwani. According to the police, Singh, a resident of Goregaon, called her cousin Arvind Sharma around 7.30pm and said she had been kidnapped.
Sharma informed the Amboli police that she was being held at a gym in Star Mall, Jogeshwari. “We searched the entire mall but did not find her there,” said an officer of the Amboli police. “When I called her mobile phone, she sounded drunk and did not know where she was. A passer-by whom she gave the phone to said she was in Malwani,”said a police officer. “Singh has been charged with misguiding the police, under the Bombay Police Act. She was fined Rs1,250,” he added.
