BEST bus crushes college girl in Malad

Mumbai: Ramesh Gupta had just finished offering his morning prayers in his shop when he heard some noise and screams. Stepping outside, he saw that a young girl had been crushed by a speeding BEST bus. To his horror, the girl turned out to be none other than his 22-year-old daughter.

Shweta Gupta, a final-year PG commerce student of SNDT College in Malad (West), had come to meet her father at his Raunak Fast Food shop after her college.

The bus (route 243) which was heading from Malad (West) station to Jankanlyan Nagar in Malwani hit her while taking a turn on the SV Road and Station Road junction around 10.30am.

“She came under the rear wheel of the speeding bus,”said sub-inspector Anil Sawant of Malad police station. The driver was caught by the public and handed over to the police.
