Duo trying to print fake Rs50 notes nabbed in Mumbai

Mumbai: The Pant Nagar police arrested two persons from Bihar for trying to print fake notes ofRs50 denomination.The duo, identified as Ballu alias Mohammad Umar, 45, and Pappu alias Yusuf Shaikh, 28, operated from Sivan, Bihar, where they had a small workshop. They had inkjet printers, copiers, rubber stamps with the picture of Gandhi; green thread and paper used for printing the notes.The duo was nabbed by a special team formed by DCP RM Vhatkar.On February 23, two members of the gang were nabbed at Ghatkopar with Rs4,000 in fake Rs50 notes. The two, identified as Mohammad Shahnawaz, 22, and Mohammad Ansari, 40, revealed the involvement of Umar and Shaikh during interrogation.DCP Vhatkar’s team left for Sivan on March 3, but Umar and Shaikh had managed to flee before the team even got there.
On March 5, the Sivan police got a tip-off and nabbed Umar and Shaikh from a hideout in Sivan and handed them over to the Pant Nagar police. Umar and Shaikh said they had received an order of fake notes amounting to Rs2 lakh by someone from Mumbai for which they were to be paid Rs70,000. Police have seized fake notes worth Rs10,000.
