With a view to up the security of Mumbaikars, the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) is likely to amend Development Control (DC) rules, and developers will also be asked submit a security plan while submitting their proposal to the building proposal department.
The Committee formed under the chairmanship of N V Merani, retired PWD Principal Secretary, has submitted the report to the government, and the Urban Development (UD) has asked the MCGM to make amendments in the DC rules.
Slain ATS Chief Hemant Karkare was also part of the committee which was formed a few days prior to the dastardly 26/11 Mumbai terror attack.
The matter will be discussed in the Improvement Committee of the civic body on Thursday.
The recommendations made by the Committee include making amendments to DC rules to incorporate regulations for bomb blast resistant structure, integrated explosive alarm, detection and deactivation systems in the design and security audit of the building.
The other recommendations are installation of CCTVs at all important locations including main gate, reception, utility areas, and common open areas on floors, lifts, lobbies and compound.
