Four youths held for attacking salesman

MUMBAI: The Mahim police arrested four youngsters, including three college students, for allegedly attacking a salesman with a knife.

The youths fled after robbing a bag containing Rs 10,500 in cash, 50 mobile SIM cards and bill books. The incident occurred on Friday when Shiashankar Gupta (19), a salesman with a mobile service provider was heading towards Mahim station.

Pedestrians who witnessed the incident not just informed the patrolling police team, they chased the four for 15 minutes and nabbed one. The rest were arrested later. During interrogation the four—the kingpin Bhaskar Murgan Thevar (18), Pallani Swami (18), Pechi Subramaniam Thevar (18) and Bala Murgan Thevar (19) — said they had kept a watch on the salesman for the past few days.
