MUMBAI: Even the overcast skies of the last few mornings had not prepared Mumbaikars for the brief spell of February rain that several parts of the city experienced on Sunday evening and Monday morning.
So, if it drizzled in Chembur on Sunday evening, Borivli experienced it on Monday morning. But this is not the first time that Mumbai received a drizzle in the month of February.
According to the records with the meteorology department, slight traces or very light rainfall was recorded in February in 2007 and 2006 as well.
With 92% relative humidity recorded on Monday, weather bureau officials said a shower was expected. "It is not a surprise that Mumbai has seen rain, especially after the whole week of clouds and overcast skies. There is a cyclonic circulation going on all over South India and Gujarat and Maharashtra is just caught in between," meteorology department director Sathi Devi said.
