Chain-snatchers speed away on bike after firing in the air

MUMBAI: Two chain-snatchers, who were cornered by residents when the duo tried to rob a woman in Borivli (W), fired a round in the air and fled on their motorcycle on Friday. The incident took place at Dharmanagar around 7.45 pm when the two bike-bourne men rode up to 56-year-old Sneha Patil and snatched at her necklace, failing which, they pushed her to the ground.

“A crowd of passersby started pelting the duo with stones. But the pillion rider whipped out a revolver, fired in the air and the two fled,’’ the police said. One of the residents noted down the motorcycle’s registration number and handed it over to the police.
